A tenant in Abakaliki has been sent parking for having the gut to buy three cars in his house.

A mild drama unfolded in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, after a landlord reportedly issued a quit notice to his tenant for owning multiple vehicles.

The incident was brought to light by one Nelson Igboke, who posted on social media that the landlord, located on Okwase Street in Abakaliki, asked the tenant to vacate the premises because he already had two cars and had just purchased a third one for his wife.

“At Okwase street Abakaliki, landlord just gave his tenant quit notice b/c he had 2 cars and just bot a 3rd one for his wife. The landlord asked him to go and build his own house,” Nelson wrote on Monday.

The post has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians debating the fairness and legality of the landlord’s actions. Some defended the landlord’s sentiments, saying tenants flaunting wealth in rented spaces may provoke envy or disruption. Others argue that ownership of personal property like cars should not be a basis for eviction.
