Alliance for Youth Nigeria Empowers 25,000 Young Nigerians

In a major boost for youth employment, the Alliance for Youth Nigeria has empowered over 25,000 young Nigerians with jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities through skills training, marking four years of consistent intervention in bridging the unemployment gap.

The Alliance for Youth Nigeria was founded by Nestlé Nigeria, Jobberman Nigeria, Big Bottling Company, the United Nations Global Compact Network Nigeria, and U-Connect HR Limited. The initiative is supported by key stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Youth, the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, and Activate Success International. The partnership has set an ambitious target of equipping 250,000 young Nigerians with employability and entrepreneurial skills by 2030.

This year, the Alliance held its flagship vocational skills training programme in Jos, where 585 youths participated. The training equipped them with hands-on knowledge in beauty care, video editing, solar panel installation, and web design. High-performing participants were further supported with start-up kits and seed capital, enabling them to immediately deploy their new skills.

The programme also provided real-time project opportunities for participants, giving them practical experience and showcasing the direct impact of the training. The initiative reflects wider calls for youth empowerment in Nigeria, an area where collaboration between private and public stakeholders is proving essential.

Speaking on behalf of Nestlé Nigeria, Shakiru Lawal, Country Human Resource Manager, reaffirmed the company’s commitment: “As a proud member of the Alliance for Youth Nigeria, Nestlé Nigeria is committed to empowering young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive. Together with other partners, we are building careers and nurturing the next generation of leaders who will shape a better future for our nation.”

At Property Media Week, we continue to highlight initiatives that transform communities and create long-term opportunities for Nigerians. You can also explore our coverage on youth empowerment in Nigeria and infrastructure development
