The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially scheduled its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for July 24, 2025, to pick a new National Chairman following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to party sources, the meeting will take place at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, bringing together top stakeholders including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
Ganduje’s exit comes amid internal party tensions, with several factions pushing for a new leader to stabilize the party ahead of the 2027 elections. Names like former governors and influential party stalwarts are already being floated as possible replacements, but the NEC will ultimately decide.
APC’s National Publicity Secretary emphasized that the decision aims to unify the party, ensure smooth operations, and reinforce confidence among members. Analysts note that the choice of a new chairman will have significant implications for party cohesion, zoning arrangements, and preparations for upcoming elections.
