Benue State has once again been thrown into mourning following a brutal overnight attack that left at least 17 people dead. The attack, believed to have been carried out by suspected herders, occurred in rural communities plagued by ongoing conflict over land and grazing rights.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants invaded the area in the dead of night, shooting indiscriminately and setting houses ablaze. Women and children were not spared in the carnage, sparking outrage and grief across the state.
