Don’t Let AI Erode Your Critical Thinking,” Tinubu Tells Students

President Bola Tinubu has urged students to protect their minds from overreliance on AI. Speaking at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Castries, Saint Lucia, he warned students not to allow AI to erode their ability to think critically.

“Don’t depend on AI technology to find the solution,” he said. “Go through each step like a recipe. Then, you solve the problem yourself. Once you do, you feel satisfaction and pride in your achievement.”

Why Students Must Use AI Wisely

First, Tinubu stressed that AI should act as a tool, not a replacement for thinking. By doing each step themselves, students build confidence and understanding. Moreover, relying only on AI creates shortcuts that harm learning in the long run.

Second, he highlighted that true knowledge comes from discipline and effort. Therefore, students who push through challenges develop skills that no machine can replace.

The Power of Education and Discipline

Tinubu reminded the audience that education is the strongest weapon against poverty. He encouraged them to stay disciplined, manage their time well, and remain curious. Because of these qualities, students can overcome obstacles and succeed in life.

Nigeria and Saint Lucia: Strengthening Ties

Furthermore, Tinubu announced cultural and educational exchanges between Nigeria and Saint Lucia. He invited the college’s performing arts group to Nigeria for a cultural program. This exchange will deepen Afro-Caribbean connections.

Additionally, Tinubu confirmed scholarships for students from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States. Through these opportunities, he said, students can gain knowledge, share cultures, and build lasting friendships.
