Residents of North Central Nigeria are living in fear following reports of a new militant group known as Mahmuda taking control of several rural communities. The group is said to be operating around the Kainji Lake National Park, which stretches across parts of Kwara and Niger States.
According to local sources, Mahmuda militants have been terrorizing villages, displacing residents, and creating widespread insecurity in the region. Many locals have reportedly fled their homes, abandoning farms and properties to escape the rising threat.
Security analysts have warned that the emergence of this group could destabilize the region further if not immediately addressed. They are calling on the Nigerian government to deploy additional security forces and intelligence operatives to contain the threat before it spreads.
So far, there has been no official statement from the military or the police, but residents are urging swift action to reclaim their communities and restore peace.
