The Federal Government is making major strides in addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit—this time focusing on Northern Nigeria. According to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, a total of 6,112 housing units are currently under construction across the region, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano, Benue, Katsina, Gombe, Yobe, Sokoto, and Nasarawa.
This initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, aimed at using affordable housing as a tool for job creation, economic empowerment, and national stability.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Karsana, FCT: 3,112 units (Renewed Hope City)
- Kano State: 1,500 units across Renewed Hope City and a 500-unit Estate
- 250-unit estates have been completed in Benue, Katsina, Gombe, Yobe, Sokoto, and Nasarawa—totaling 1,500 units
Each project site includes:
✅ Integrated road networks
✅ Clean water systems
✅ Solar-powered street lighting
✅ Essential basic amenities
“We are not just building houses; we are creating sustainable communities,” Dangiwa emphasized.
