Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested two suspected armed men in Benue State. The joint security team intercepted the suspects during an anti-criminal patrol on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
The suspects were identified as 42-year-old Mr. Felix Agbako, a farmer from Abiam Village in Gwer East, and 42-year-old Mr. Tsekaa Kyaan, a driver from Tse-Adam Village in Makurdi. They were arrested along key entry and exit routes into Makurdi, the state capital.
The operation’s goal was to dismantle illegal checkpoints and disrupt criminal movement within the Area of Responsibility (AOR). During the search, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine with 7.62mm special ammunition. The weapons were hidden inside a blue Toyota Camry with registration number Lagos FST 733 GL.
The successful arrest was carried out under Captain Miri-Dashe of the 401 Special Forces Brigade, supported by Captain Iyamba. The operation also included operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), Keystone personnel, and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The suspects and the recovered items have been taken into custody for further investigation.
Reacting to the arrest, the Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Kolo Gara, praised the dedication of the team. He reaffirmed OPWS’s commitment to denying criminals a safe haven in Benue and the region.
The Force Commander also thanked the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for their ongoing support. Their contributions, he said, ensure OPWS has the resources to protect lives and property.
