Police in Jigawa State have arrested a 70-year-old man, Adamu Yakubu, for allegedly killing his sister during a disagreement over inherited land. The tragic incident took place on July 1, 2025, in Galadanchi village, Dutse Local Government Area.
According to police spokesperson SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, Yakubu and his sister, Hannatu Hashimu, argued bitterly over the land before he struck her with a stick. She collapsed after the blow and was taken to Dutse General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Police have recovered the stick used in the attack. The suspect is now in custody while authorities continue their investigation.
SP Adam urged the public to settle disputes peacefully through legal channels. He promised that the police would ensure justice is served in the case.
