Governor Zulum Raises Alarm Over Boko Haram Resurgence in Borno

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has voiced serious concerns about the rising insecurity in the state. He stated that Boko Haram is gradually regaining strength in several communities, and urgent action is required from the federal government to prevent further damage.

During a high-level security meeting in Maiduguri, the state capital, Governor Zulum shared his frustration about the current state of affairs. He noted that insurgents have intensified attacks and abductions, especially in communities such as Wulgo, Izge, Wajirko, and Sabon Gari. According to him, these areas have seen military posts dislodged and civilian lives put in grave danger.

“The President needs to listen to those who can differentiate their left from their right,” Zulum stated passionately.

The governor pointed out that despite the efforts of security forces, the terrorists seem to be operating freely in some parts of the state. He said the insurgents now move from village to village with little resistance, spreading fear and causing displacement.

Zulum didn’t stop at criticizing the lack of security. He also emphasized the need for a better strategy that includes advanced military equipment and the deployment of technological intelligence tools. He urged the federal government to support Borno with more tactical solutions rather than relying on outdated approaches.

In response, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, reassured the public of the government’s commitment to fight terrorism. He acknowledged the governor’s concerns and emphasized that efforts are ongoing to strengthen security in the region.

This isn’t the first time Governor Zulum has sounded the alarm. In previous statements, he suggested that some individuals might be profiting from the prolonged insurgency. These “beneficiaries of chaos,” according to him, have no interest in seeing an end to the crisis.

As Borno continues to battle both visible threats and hidden enemies, Zulum’s voice remains firm. He calls on both state and federal leaders to take decisive steps before the situation spirals out of control.
