Russia launched another wave of drone strikes on Ukraine on Friday, April 25, 2025. These strikes killed at least eight civilians and injured many more. U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier urged President Vladimir Putin to stop the attacks.
In Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, drones killed three people, including a child and a 76-year-old woman. The assault injured ten others. Regional Governor Serhiy Lysak said Ukrainian forces shot down 11 drones over the area.
Kherson also came under fire. Strikes killed two people and damaged homes and power facilities. Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed the targets were critical infrastructure and residential areas.
Kharkiv faced explosions as well. Six people were injured, and several neighborhoods suffered heavy damage.
These attacks followed a deadly assault on Kyiv just a day earlier. On April 24, missile and drone strikes killed 12 and injured 87 people in Ukraine’s capital.
President Trump reacted with strong words on social media. He wrote, “Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the peace deal DONE!” Hours later, he claimed both Russia and Ukraine wanted peace.
Despite his plea, Russia pushed forward with its attacks. The international community continues to worry about the rising civilian death toll and the lack of progress toward peace.
