The Nigerian media community is mourning the sudden loss of Mrs. Bukola Agbakaizu, a respected broadcast journalist with Ogun State Television (OGTV), who tragically passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Mrs. Agbakaizu, aged 52, reportedly collapsed while preparing for her afternoon shift at the OGTV studios in Abeokuta. Despite immediate efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba.
A dedicated professional, Mrs. Agbakaizu served as a former Vice Chairman of the OGTV Chapel and was an ex-officio member of the Wale Olanrewaju-led executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council. Her colleagues remember her as a passionate journalist and a vibrant personality whose contributions to the media industry will be deeply missed.
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ogun State Chapter, expressed deep sorrow over her passing, describing it as a significant loss to the journalism community. Mrs. Agbakaizu is survived by her two children, her aged mother, and numerous colleagues and friends who mourn her untimely demise.
