The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled June 27, 2025, to deliver judgment in the suit filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is challenging her six-month suspension from the Nigerian Senate.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, was suspended in March 2025 following allegations of misconduct, including refusal to sit in her assigned seat, speaking without recognition, and making abusive remarks against Senate leadership. The suspension followed her public accusation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which the Senate stated was not the reason for her suspension.
In response, Akpoti-Uduaghan filed a lawsuit against the Senate, seeking to overturn her suspension and claiming it was a retaliatory act infringing on her rights and duties as an elected official. The court, presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, heard arguments from both parties and set June 27 as the date to deliver its judgment.
