Dangote, BUA Freeze Cement Prices to Support Federal Infrastructure Projects

Nigeria’s top cement producers, Dangote Cement and BUA Cement, have agreed to freeze prices for all federal construction projects under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

This major decision came after a strategic meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. The goal is to reduce building costs and speed up the delivery of vital infrastructure.

Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, confirmed the move. He explained that both companies want to help the government succeed in its economic plans.

“We have decided to freeze the price of cement for any contractor working on Renewed Hope projects,” Rabiu said. “This is our way of supporting Mr. President’s vision.”

This decision matters. Cement is a key driver of project costs, and price stability will help contractors plan better and avoid delays.

To support this effort further:

  • BUA Cement’s MD, Yusuf Binji, will now lead the Cement Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (CEMAN).
  • The Cement Technology Institute of Nigeria (CTIN) will receive between ₦15 billion and ₦20 billion every year.

This fund, generated from a ₦20–₦30 levy on each bag of cement sold, will train artisans and close skill gaps in construction.

Clearly, this partnership between the government and private sector shows real commitment to building a stronger Nigeria. By working together, these companies are not just supporting infrastructure—they’re investing in people and progress.
