UAD Demands Resignations Amid Benue Massacre Tragedy
The Universal Accountability for Democracy (UAD), a leading Nigerian civic rights group, has called on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia to step down in the wake of devastating bloodshed across Benue State.
In a press briefing on Monday, UAD condemned the latest massacre in Yelewata, Guma LGA, where Amnesty International confirms at least 100 people were killed—many burned alive—in a weekend attack. Leadership, they argue, has clearly failed.
Speaking on behalf of UAD, spokesperson Chinyere Nwankwo said, “These killings are happening with impunity, while those entrusted with our security look on.” UAD is demanding immediate resignations and urgent intervention to prevent further violence.
