It’s no longer a secret that electricity tariffs from the DisCos are hitting hard, especially if you’re on Band A or Band B. Many people are confused about how their prepaid meters read so quickly, even though they’re only using regular household appliances.
Some blame the electricity distribution companies, while others resort to bypassing the meter which is illegal.
Before you jump to conclusions, here are a few things you should check if your electricity units are draining too fast:
- Switch off lights in unused rooms. If you’re done using a room, turn off the light. Avoid leaving toilet lights on all day, they’re not security lights.
- Take advantage of natural daylight. During the day, turn off your indoor lights and let sunlight brighten your home instead.
- Use ceiling fans instead of air conditioners. Ceiling fans consume much less power compared to AC units. If you can afford it, consider investing in an inverter AC, which offers the same cooling effect while consuming less electricity.
