The FHA housing project in Oyo kicked off with the handover of 100 completed homes in Ajoda, Ibadan. This launch is part of a larger plan to deliver 1,000 housing units across the state under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
At the commissioning, FHA Managing Director Hon. Oyetunde Ojo announced, “We’re rebuilding trust. This site was abandoned since 2018, but we’re back to complete it—starting with these 100 homes.”
What’s Included in the Project?
The estate features two- and three-bedroom units. Future phases will include studio apartments tailored to young Nigerians. The project is designed to serve not just civil servants, but also artisans, traders, and entrepreneurs from the informal sector.
“In fact, the informal sector often has better cash flow than many office workers,” Ojo pointed out. “Everyone deserves a home.”
Accessible Mortgages for All
To make ownership easier, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria offers low-interest housing loans—6% interest repayable over 30 years. Ojo encouraged Nigerians to visit the official website and apply directly.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of the bank, Alhaji Shehu Usman Osidi, stressed transparency. “We want Nigerians to walk into any branch, pick up a form, and get honest service—no corruption.”
Community Support Recognized
In appreciation of local contributions, the FHA gifted two-bedroom homes to the Alajia of Ajia and the Onisade of Isade. Their support helped secure land for the project.
Greenwood Construction, the developer, described the site’s transformation. “It was forest when we arrived. Now, it’s home to many hopeful families,” said company representative Mr. Ige Ayeni.
More Developments to Follow
According to FHA Executive Director Engr. Remi Omowaiye, similar housing projects are underway in 17 states. “Our next commissioning is in Abuja this August,” he revealed.
Calls for More Infrastructure
Local leaders used the occasion to call for further improvements. They highlighted the need for better roads, steady electricity, and well-planned security posts in the estate.
